I would appreciate knowing where Canadian owners found low priced power steering kits.
How does the import tax work in Canada from US to Canada. From Canada to the US is $ 2,000.00 before the exise tax kicks in? So can you order a $ 500.00 kit and still be affected by a tax?

Just the provincial sales tax, 15%. It's the value of our dollar that makes it crazy, a $500 USD item will cost us $675 plus tax is $775. Plus brokerage fees, if we use a broker to bring it across. I live an hour from the border, so the wife and I usually make an afternoon out of it and bring it across personally.

Sounds like a good plan! When we used to travel to Canada the exchange rate was around
10 % sounds like it's up to 17 %? Math was way off $ 500.00 X 35% exchange rate + $ 175.00 + = $675.00! Now that's CRAZY! WOW! I just Googled it, 34 %!

It is the brokerage fee and shipping costs that are the real killers. I need to find a member that lives in or near Sault Ste Marie Michigan that I can have parcels delivered to. The import duties, if any, are not to bad. The 14% GST is just a part of living in a country with "free" medical care.

I have a PO box # in Calais Maine that I use, it only cost me about $2.00 for each item that they receive for me.
If you went down to Sault St Marie, I bet most of the hardware stores are set up to receive parcels for Canadians. The hardware stores in Maine near the border crossings all do it.

In B.C. Western Canada, I have an account in Sumas Wa., where I have had stuff shipped to and pick up in person. I live about 3.0 hours North East of there. Typically for me the xborder fees and shipping within Canada can be cost prohibitive (pending how bad you want stuff heh heh), that combined with exchange rate makes it challenging. Given aftermarket gear is slim for the P5 anyways I find myself fabing or sorting a work around more often than not.
