My brother in-law has a 520 set up the same as our 500. Both of us say the same thing, that we can not tell any differences in performance between the two. They are both great small machines to have. It all depends if you need a dump bed.

For the guys that have the 520 does it feel stronger than the p500? Does it still have the low gearing like the p500? Is the ride any better? Thinking of getting one but still on the fence. Any feedback appreciated.
For a second machine? Or did u get rid of another and thinking of going with one of the P5’s?

According to the articles I've read the power output is bumped by 1.2hp which is about the same as 0. This past winter I tore down my P5 and installed a 520 top end using OEM piston & cyl. Mine was due for a rebuild so why not. There was no dramatic increase in power, it seems to run better and have more "grunt" but I attribute that to a fresh topend not from a 4mm increase in the bore.

Sidebar:
Those articles stated the driving factor behind the bore increase was emissions & efficiency, not the pursuit of more power.

I put a deposit down on a 2022 520 last week and am now wondering if I should just get a 2021 500 that is available. I like the dump bed but was really hoping the 520 had more to offer (over the 500) then just that. Do you guys have any idea if one vs. the other would be better suited for a rear seat option?

Can't help you with the rear seat option but I can tell you the only difference between the 2 powerplants is the 520 has a cyl bore that is 4mm larger, thats it. Same cases, crank, transmission, ecu, even the fuel injector is the same as the 500. I researched all this last yr when I rebuilt the top end on mine, I was hoping for more but there really isn't a lot of difference power wise.

Edit: sorry, it's a 4mm larger bore not 2mm. I had 2mm stuck in my head because that's how much I had to mill out of the cases for the 520 cyl to fit.

Guys have done a rear seat mod to the 500. I've never seen one on a 520, doesn't mean it can't be done.

I’m seeing some aftermarket rumbler seat options that look like they would work out much better with a dump bed configuration. I’ll probably just stick with the 520. Strange that pretty much just a dump bed would add an extra grand though.

There is a guy on here somewhere that set up his 500 for shooting sporting clays that added a rear folding jumpseat to his and it looks fantastic. Almost like it was meant for it. Ill see if I can find his pictures.

That seat idea keeps the center of gravity lower than a forward facing setup if your trying to accommodate leg room....

I wanna say the 520 gained like 80lbs over the 500, so that probably offset any power gains.

How about the ride quality? It was supposed to be "improved"?
