Yes, tons of 411 on the base vs Deluxe question for <= 2021. Just wanted to confirm a few things for 2022 MY, as my buddy who lost his brand new 2021 to a fire might have a line on a 2022 base model.

  • Wheels are different (14" steel vs 14" aluminum)
  • No LED headlights in EITHER model (used to be LED in Deluxe)
  • No color body panels for the base model
  • No underseat/underdash storage for base model
  • No accessory outlet in cargo bed for base model
  • Blanks instead of pre-wired switches for base model
  • No self-leveling suspension for base model

The above was garnered from the model overview comparison posted by @HondaTech back in March.

Just wondering if anything has changed from that list?

Also, can the colored panels from Deluxe be added to the base model (i.e., with rivet nuts)?

It may not matter but the cargo light blanks are not present on the base model in addition to the power outlet not being present.

Just got on here to check, my 16 1000-5 d has led lights, my new 22 deluxe doesn’t. Thought maybe they screwed up on the build or something.

I would second the idea for rear storage behind the panels using the push pins versus rivnuts

Yes, I would use the plastic push pins over rivnuts for speed and ease of installation.
However, the rivet nuts give you the option of doing the in-door storage mod with the push button panel fasteners. Just be sure to use the 5mm thread rivnuts. (Oops, correction . . . they are 6mm rivnuts, I was thinking of the drive bit size for the screws.)

Note, if you know you're gonna do the door storage mod, make the cut-outs in the door first. That way you can reach in and put a backing washer on each rivet nut if desired.

Deluxe has preload adjustable shocks in the rear. Base does not.
Which should be immediately replaced with better shocks all the way around.
The Deluxe -3 has preload adjustable, the -5 has self leveling
All of which should be replaced with better shocks. :)
