Not going to sell it until 25,000 miles. The super clean under roof air intake snorkel with a good pre filter and the stock Honda air filter helps prolong the engine life. Also proper oil changes with full synthetic motorcycle oil helps too. My next Talon may be a Talon X Live Valve or the 4 seat model. I will wait to see if they have a new model for 2022 or some suspension and air intake improvements.

I miss my 500 so I’m buying a Pioneer 520 next. We have some great 50 inch trails and it will work better for trail maintenance. I still have my 30 inch tire and wheel set with the wheel spacers. My top speed will be 46 mph and I can run low tire pressure for more suspension travel. The air box is improved and it will be easy to make a air intake snorkel. I tell the guys I need something to drive so the Turbo guys can keep up.

Bob, would you mind listing all the warranty work your Talon has had in the 20,000 miles?

4 front dif seals, still leaking. I think Honda will have another improved dif seal. One rear wheel bearing and one drive shaft U-joint failure at around 15,000 miles. The replacement drive shaft U-joint failed in less then 3,000 miles. The sub trans inspection. The 4 rear suspension bars were replaced at 15,000 miles but the new bars had the same play.

The rear suspension bars you speak of. Guessing you are talking about the radius arms. Can you describe what kind of play they had in them? Did it kind of simulate a bad wheel bearing?

Awesome you have that many miles and that few of problems.

Yes the hiem joints have a little play. The new radius arms had exactly the same amount of play and I had around 15,000 miles on my Talon when the arms and left rear wheel bearing was replaced. All the Pioneer's use the same wheel bearing even the 500.

@hondabob I am curious as to the "why" your next Talon might be the X instead of another R? I am looking for a 2nd Talon and was going to get the R just to try it out. But I am really happy with X with the way I have it setup. Thanks

No choice with the 4 seat and the X is better in the fast tight trails. I will still have my 2020 R for the more wide open trails and sand wash.
