P1000 2017 Radiator Air Deflector

There was recently a thread about a lift kit not fitting on a 2017 LE due to the deflector behind the radiator. After a little research I ordered the 2017 Radiator air deflector this past weekend. The parts are #12 19071-HL4-F00 PLATE, AIR GUIDE and #13 19072-HL4-F00 RUBBER, AIR GUIDE. I think this should help reduce some of the hot air from the radiator going through the dash.

At my dealer this was around $12 in parts. They will have to look up the 2017 LE as it has them installed from the factory. It's possible all late 2017 models have them but I have only seen the LE. Here it is on the LE

Here's how the install went. Remove the whole under hood

New parts. I skipped the Honda fasteners and drilled the holes out for a 5/16 push pin

Test fit. I used the left (driver's side) most hole as a reference point to the 2017 frame drawing

Drilling holes, a total pain

On my first ride with my LE, I wondered why I wasn't getting any hot air through the shifter slots. At the time, I didn't know about these new parts. They really do make a huge difference. Add these parts to the 'must do' mods.

On another note, my wife complained about the rear seat heat. I ordered the heat shield for the front seat and will most likely add bilge fan(s).

I rode my 2017 1000-5 deluxe fairly hard Saturday for the first time for several hours. I didn't notice the heat around the shifter that others describe. After reading this post, I checked and mine has the deflector you described. Seems effective to me.

I'm glad to hear it works on the 17. I'll provide some feedback after riding with it this weekend

I didn't think I could make it look better than Honda's part for less than $12

Good info... I think @Amre2me2 had some issue with clearances with the new parts when went to add the HL lift. Can anyone confirm? Or is there a work around?

Yes, take the lift off, thats the work around. Really isnt needed.

The long bar that mounts across the front between the two shock mounts, mounts over top of the holes that the new deflector mounts to. The earlier 16s don't have these holes in the frame part, you have to drill these holes to mount the deflector to. Which is why they are having to take some parts off to get a drill in there to drill them out.
The lift is important when you are running in two feet of snow. The more snow you are trying to plow through, the more difficult it is. It's a real compromise though because you also don't want to raise your CG too much which makes you more top heavy.

Rode all weekend and I'm really happy with this mod. The dash is a lot cooler and there is almost no hot air coming through. I did notice a bit of warm air in that area if the fan was on and I was idling. Overall I'm very happy with the cheap fix and easy installation

You lucked out having the holes. Well worth the $12 if you just have to put push pins in

Yeah, cause I don't have a right angle drill. I may have to tweak my secondary battery hold down but that is minor.

I figured I would give an update. My late '16 model has the holes in the frame and I successfully installed the deflector without having to remove the whole front end plastic. It was not without a lot of language that would make a sailor blush, however.

The plastic rivet on the "passenger" side cannot be installed in the correct front to rear orientation with the Tupperware in place, it has to be installed backwards which makes that side a little loose
