There is a rumor floating around. Something "new" is coming for 17. Just not sure if it is for the 500, 700, or 1000. Not a new model... Only updates!

I was hoping they would change the gearing in the tranny to help deal with the current clutch issues some are having.

Well this patent filed on 3/24/2016 which is a revision / improvement of a patent design filed 8/24/2014. Not sure if it applies to the P1000 but on page 18 of that PDF it talks about a revised DCT cover that ADDS an oil temp sensor that does not exist on the current model and moving the oil pressure senor closer to the piston that controls the dual clutches.... : Honda 1000 Engine Patents - 20160082833

This could mean between relocating the pressure sensor and the addition of the oil temp sensor perhaps they can better regulate the oil pressure applied to the clutches, that in my theory should improve the holding pressure or closing speed of the R, 1,3,5 starting clutch. On my unit when I give it more pedal it doesn't slip, drive it easy it slips. IE more RPM = more pressure as it and the anomaly seemingly goes away from a seat of the pants standpoint, but I have no science to support it, just my opinion. We will see.

The GM from a sister store said there's a sport model sitting in R&D as we speak. There waiting on the green light to produce it. Been tested and approved from R&D, waitin on the big guys to give it the thumbs up. Straight from a Honda rep in southern ohio.

Your opinion uses lots of intelligence.

It would be nice if low range and reverse were geared lower. High range is perfect in my opinion.

Has anyone checked out the 2017 Yamaha yxz 1000 SS? Yes its a sport shift auto clutch ( no foot pedal) paddle shifter priced not much over the pioneer. Screaming triple motor and meg suspension. Only 2 seater tho'. oh boy.

It is very quick had a chance on the manual a little bit ago but took it easy not being mine. The thing screams but didn't like the woods much it was way to high geared you were always slipping the clutch. I think the ss has same gearing but would be a little easier. They would be a blast at the dunes definitely not the same type of class as the Pioneer
