I just completed the 1st oil change on my 2014 P2 700 and cleaned / re-oil the air filter. I used Genuine Honda filter and oil. I bought the Pioneer used and the PO told me it was not due for service (wrong!). With 21 hrs & 214 miles it was way over due. Now I'm wondering what the long term impact of running dirty oil is going to be. She seems to be running and shifting smoother than before the maintenance which is good.

I remember a lot of guys saying their first oil change had a LOT of crap in the filter. This is normal, if you changed it at 21 hours you ought to be fine.

Only 214 miles, you will be fine. I would make sure to change it at least every 100 hours. these things aren't screaming around at 8500 RPM all day unless your @jak9922 trying to get away with another load of apple pie shine.

Thanks for the reassurance guys! I suspected that nothing would be hurt by running dirty oil for a little longer than recommended, but in the back of my mind there was this little voice that kept saying you messed up your new ride. And yes the filter had a LOT of crap in it!!

Ha I know the feeling! Plunk down thousands of dollars on a new toy and the last thing you want is to mess it up! I think you'll be fine. When I was younger we had a 1983-ish Honda four stroke three wheeler and it was lucky if it got an oil change once a YEAR. What finally did it in when it was about 20 years old had nothing to do with the engine, it was me trying to do burn outs on pavement! (Rear end made a loud "POP!"). Ah youth!
