I'm tired of messing around with heavy and bent loading ramps on my utility trailer so I'm looking into purchasing a 12 foot tilt trailer for my X2.

My only concern is once I roll the Talon X2 onto the trailer, will the deck start to lower back down before the rear tires hit the edge of the rear of the trailer.

Anyone here running a 12 foot tilt trailer?

You can get heavy duty aluminum ramps that are rated high enough for your SxS if you aren’t sold on a new trailer. I’ve got a set of arched folding that are rated for 3k pounds for the pair.

Cool bud, you do nice work
Plan on painting it in the future or leaving it that way?
I’m gonna paint it this summer. After i add a spare tire and tongue jack mounts to each side at the back. So if I have a flat tire i can use the tongue jack to pick it up.
How's the tongue weight with that axle placement?

This location puts me at 250 lbs, which is a smidge light for my 3000 lbs. Including about 200 lbs. on the back of the Talon.

Tongue weight is about 500 lbs. the trailer only weighs 580 lbs.

I've got a Pioneer 500 and have never had a problem with the tilt bed lowering before the rear wheels get on the trailer. I've got a 10' tilt bed trailer and a 14' trailer with a 4' tailgate for a ramp. I seldom use the tilt be anymore, I much prefer using the tailgate ramp.

After some good advice and evaluation, I emptied the wallet and decided to purchase the 6.5x12 aluminum trailer I wanted!

Congrats on the new trailer! Just a heads up, I have an aluminum trailer and have had the welds for mounting the axle break twice. Both repairs under warranty but still a bit scary/PITA. First repair said factory only had it tacked in place, 2nd repair said the first repair was crap welds. Crossing my fingers its good to go now.

After I purchased my last trailer, my brother and I went over it with a fine tooth comb (and a TIG welder) and corrected all the screw ups.

I have been window shopping welders for a long time. This trailer is the only reason I have been leaning towards a true TIG process machine. It's probably cheaper to sell it and get a steel trailer than to buy a all purpose machine with TIG. lol

Check out the Primeweld AC/DC TIG225. It's Miller/Lincoln quality at a fraction of the cost ($869 and free shipping) with a 3 year no hassle warranty that includes shipping costs there AND back if repair or replacement is needed and 7 day a week US-based customer support. Comes with a CK Worldwide torch, HF arc start, pulse, and plenty of other features.

See my post on the welder porn thread here.

There is a boatload of YouTube videos on Primeweld, most from users, not the company itself.

When I first got my Talon I used my 12 foot double tilt snowmobile trailer. I installed two 200 pound gas struts under it so the rear of the bed would stay down for the rear wheels.

Curious as to the MFG. of the trailer since I have aluminum as well. also does yours have the torsion or leaf spring axel. Thanks

Torsion axels are notoriously hard on aluminum frames IMO…but are necessary because everyone wants a low slung trailer (not sure why as they suck off the pavement). There is a ton of moment force on the bolted section.

Not to mention that a p1k is nearly maxing out the single torsion axel limit without factoring in shock loading.

It’s been my experience that if your buying an aluminum trailer, you want a leaf spring setup.

The picture shown earlier, while not a perfect weld, it is sufficient, is a sign of what I speak of.
