For anyone wondering about what to do with the rear sway bar. The sway bar is needed for fast driving and cornering. It hinders flex for slow trail/rock riding. So with out paying high dollar for the electric quick disconnect kit or removing it altogether, shocks fill the void and let it flex more while keeping it stable at higher speeds.

I have been seeing people putting the Speedway motors short shocks part# 91046221 (9 5/8" compressed and 14 5/8" extended) on their Talons. Some say they like them and others say they need to be a little shorter for more down travel. Speedway makes a shorter one part# 91046213 (7.5" compressed and 10.5" extended) , but they are too short for my x4.
My x4 measures 11" for the sway bar link length. On Speedways page for the 91046221 shocks, they have a note saying (Dimensionally similar to Pete and Jake's 1084). I was curious and looked those up. I believe they will be about as perfect as we can get. The dimensions are 9.25" compressed and 14.25" extended. So 11" link rest height is as close to center of those measurements as we can get for equal travel.

I have ordered the Pete and Jake's shocks to try and will update when they come in and I install. Hoping to get a little more flex out of the ol x4.

They are 50/50 and I am going to do both. I hopefully will be getting them installed this weekend.
It's been brought to my attention that doing this on my r is a bad idea because of the possible interference from the 4'th link. :( Still following your endeavors

I went with the Afco 106160 on one side of my X2. It has worked out great. Like the ones mentioned it's no perfect for an 11 inch ride height. But close with 14.5 extended and 9.5 compressed.

I finally got time to do the install and the ride and performance with the shocks is very good. I put 12mm sleeves in all the shock bushings and used 7/16 x 2.5" long bolts. The shocks bolted right up in place of the sway bar links with no clearance issues, as some were curious about. I haven't took it out and flexed it a lot yet on big rocks, but the initial trail riding over logs and stuff and riding on faster corners, leaves me very pleased.

2019 Honda Talon 1000R. I have since added a SlickRock skid plate, bed extender, and a snorkel that I modified to use a prefilter.
Just ordered the Pete & Jake’s shocks. Hope they fit the R.

Nice! Fingered those were LT’s
They look great
Thank you! These are Nitto’s SxS tire. A buddy had some on his and swears by their Rock climbing capabilities. I haven’t put them to extreme tests yet, but so far so good.
Here’s the link for info on them.
