Tough problem ai am hoping you can help me with.
My 1500 mile 2020 1000R started idling rough and stalling when cold.
I read it was the IAV, so I purchased a new valve and valve body. When I took the factory IAV off, it was frozen in place and corrosion was present. I installed the new IAV making sure the slot and pin were aligned.
I put the until back together, started it up, and the idle surges non-stop from 2500-3000 RPM.
I pulled the IAV back apart, unthreaded it so it was as long as possible, reinstalled it in the housing. Having it long makes sure you're aligned with the pin.
Put it back together, started it up and it idled at 800 RPM. It slowly raised its idle to 1300RPM.
I turned it off and back on, then it idled at 2k. No surging.
I turned it off and back on, then it idled at 2400. No surging.
I turned it off and back on, then it was back to surging from 2500-3000 over and over.
I tested the Throttle Postition sensor and it seemed less responsive than I thought was ok, so I replaced it and I replaced the spark plugs also. Same issue.
I am at my wits end. What am I missing??
